The French museum has blocked the sale of the record-breaking still-life painting, The Basket of Wild Strawberries, by Jean-Siméon Chardin (1699-1779) which was sold by Artcurial to a US dealer for €24.3M last week. The famous French museum is now seeking funds to buy it. (TAN)
