The Deepest Shipwreck Ever Identified: USS Samuel B Roberts

The “Sammy B”, which went down in the Battle Off Samar in the Philippine Sea in October 1944 after fighting the Japanese, was found 6,895m (22,621ft) underwater by Texan financier and adventurer Victor Vescovo. The images from his deep-diving submersible show the hull structure, guns and torpedo tubes. (BBC)
