Statue of Colonial General Toppled in Puerto Rico Ahead of Spanish King’s Visit

A statue of Spanish colonial-era general Juan Ponce de León was toppled in Puerto Rico in the early hours of January 24, days before the visit of Spanish King Felipe VI to mark the 500th anniversary of the city’s founding. The group Boriken Libertarian Forces, who have opposed the visit, have claimed responsibility.
