Kept in the same family since its acquisition in the 18th century, this model of one of Christianity’s holiest sites was made in Bethlehem.

Only about 30 models of the Holy Sepulcher dating from the 17 th century have come down to us. Most are in museums. The British Museum in London, the Palazzo Pitti in Florence and the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum in Munich each have one. In France, they can be seen at the Mucem in Marseille and the Museum of the City of Poitiers.…
