The Petit Palais did not hesitate to play the preemption card, adding to its collection a young musician by Edgar Maxence for 143 000 €. The same sale allowed the Comtadin-Duplessis Museum in Carpentras to return with a portrait painted by its local hero, Joseph Duplessis, preempted €13,000.
