Many of the artisans in Carrera, a region of Italy known for its marble, are machines. Its workshop Robotor has worked with artists such as Jeff Koons, Vanessa Beecroft & Barry X Ball. Founder Giacomo Massari is amused by the way “artists want to perpetuate this idea that they are still chiseling with a hammer.”(NYT)
