Infrared Scans Reveal Method Behind Munch’s “Madonna”

A preparatory drawing has been discovered beneath Edvard Munch’s Madonna, held to be one of art history’s most evocative and sensual female forms. The National Museum of Norway has revealed that the artist struggled over how he should place the subject’s arms, initially portraying them hanging by her sides. (Guardian)
