Born in Périgueux, Gilles Delluc died on Friday at the age of 87. His fascination with the Lascaux cave inspired him to pursue a PhD. A disciple of André Leroi-Gourhan, he collaborated in the creation of Lascaux 2 before being associated with the exhibition Lascaux 3 as a scientific adviser.
