The former director of Eastern Antiquity at the Louvre, Amiet was also a conservator at the Museum of Chambery. Finding an interest in archaeology through his father, he was particularly interested in Iran, especially ancient Susa. He died just short of his 99th birthday. (Quotidien de l’Art)
