On June 24th the French Government announced that the export certificate requested for The Country Ball, an oil on canvas from 1713-15 by Antoine Watteau, was refused. Once part of the collection of the Dukes of Orleans, it is considered "A rare and emblematic work, which is intended to complement public collections."
