Previously admired in La Gazette, Jean Dunand's dinanderie vase entirely coated with a fine black patina fulfilled all hopes when it garnered €115,570, well above its high estimate. Hammered from a single sheet of copper by the famous coppersmith, the tall, slender objet d'art illustrates the formal developments prefiguring the Art Deco style, as it was produced around 1912-1914. The one here, dating to 1920, is one from Dunand's "black vase" series. Another major name in this field, Line Vautrin, was represented this time by a highly original convex mirror: one of the "Perruques" (Wig) models. This was the large version (38 x 36 cm/15.4 x 14.2 in), created around 1965. The circular frame in hot-embossed beige talosel is surmounted by round cabochons forming satellites (held in place by thin metal rods), again in beige talosel with hot-worked inlaid mirror pieces in different shades (silver, orange, gunmetal, etc.). Unsigned but unmistakably her work, the piece fetched €73,660. Also in the spirit of the 1960s, a dining room table by the Audoux-Minnet duo, established in Golfe-Juan, featured a decoration of braided maize cords on an oak frame (72 x 170 x 90.5 cm/28.3 x 70 x 35.6 in), with a holiday mood that attracted €14,757. It was accompanied by a slightly earlier dish by Pablo Picasso: the "Poisson chiné"("Mottled Fish") model he created in 1952 for the Madoura workshop. The oval dish in white earthenware, decorated with greige, blue and olive-green slip, bearing the stamp "Madoura plein feu, Empreinte originale de Picasso" (35 x 42 cm/13.8 x 16.5 in), is listed as No. R.170 in Alain Ramié's famous catalog.
