The highlight of yesterday's sale at Gros & Delettrez, the repentant Saint Peter by the Spanish artist Jusepe de Ribera (1588-1656) soared up to €1,430,000. Never seen on the art market, it comes from the collection of Cardinal Flavio Chigi (1631-1693) and that of Blaise Léon Rochette de Lempdes (1809-1876).
