She is yet further proof of the prevalent belief that young artists need no longer build themselves over time. The artist was first noticed at a sale towards the end of 2013 when her painting, Diplomacy II, sold for more than £175,000 (Christie’s, London). She then triumphantly crossed the threshold of the million mark barely four years later at the end of 2017 when her painting, The Hours Behind You, sold for nearly $1.6 M (Sotheby’s, New York). Already in 2022, three of her oil paintings have surpassed the $1 M mark in New York and London. In May 2021, her record just missed out on hitting the $2 M mark: regardless, Diplomacy III, which sold for $1.95 M, certainly puts Lynette Yiadom-Boakye in the ranks of the top 200 artists at auction.
