For 2021, 17 of the 25 Italian auction houses that have released their figures have posted increased activity, in most cases even exceeding pre-pandemic levels.

Only two auction houses recorded a slight loss, and the other six only started up this year. Total sales came to €175,489,882, compared with €93,436,615 in 2020: a leap of €82,053,267 compared to 2020, and of €14,733,411 compared to 2019. While Pandolfini auction house topped the list with almost €9 million more than in the first half of last year, Cambi, Il Ponte, Finarte, Studio Martini, Blindarte, Colasanti and Vincent doubled and sometimes tripled their 2020 results. Business was brisk: 349 auctions were held, many of them online.
