After 133 Years, 60-ft Robert E. Lee Monument Removed in Richmond, Virginia

The bronze of Robert E. Lee—the general who led the South against the Union Army in the US Civil War—was the largest confederate monument in the US. Yesterday morning it was hoisted from its pedestal by cranes as onlookers chanted “Hey, hey, hey, goodbye!” after numerous protests and lawsuits. (Hyperallergic)
