This pair of glasses is probably the most original item in this Asian art auction. Here is a page of history seen through the illuminative eye of a lorgnette.

We almost forget it, but there was a time when owning such an accessory was tantamount to taking the stars out of the sky... or almost. This was the case in Europe, as in Asia. Take a look at this pair made of rock crystal and brass in China , presented in a shaped case, sheathed in yellow fabric with labels that specify its origin. One label, in the form of a red seal, indicates that the glasses are made of "genuine crystal", while another, cut out and handwritten in French, reads "Souvenir de Chine - Campagne de 1861 - Bernard Cav...…
