Claude Monet's depiction of the famous 80 m/263 ft-high Aval cliff and arch in Étretat soared to €381,000 on December 5 in Rennes. Painted in 1864 the artwork was featured in La Gazette #43. The painter stayed regularly in Normandy in the early 1860s, reviving his interest in Boudin and Jongkind.
