Enchérissez sur la liste des lots Woolley & Wallis : 21 mai 2019 - <span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Fine Chinese Paintings and Works of Art:<br />One of the highlights of the Fine Chinese Paintings and Works of Art sale on 21st May is a scroll painting entitled The Grand View of Chao Mountain (lot 16) by Zhang Da Qian (1899-1983), one of China’s most prolific modern artists. In this painting, Da Qian used his famous splash ink and colour technique to create a spectacular spring landscape, a paradise which can be seen but never reached.<br />The sale will also include a rare Chinese underglaze red ‘dragon’ bowl from the first half of the 16thcentury (lot 135). The bowl was purchased from Bluett & Sons in 1944 by the famous collector R H R Palmer (1898-1970) and was exhibited at The Oriental Ceramic Society’s Ming Polychrome Exhibition in 1950 (no.133).<br />Other highlights include a pair of octagonal jade inset zitan jars and covers from the Qianlong period (lot 44), a Shang dynasty archaic bronze jue (lot 78), and a rare Qianlong period cinnabar lacquer treasure box and cover purchased from John Sparks Ltd in 1947.<br /><br />IMPORTANT INFORMATION<br />If you intend to bid in FINE CHINESE PAINTINGS & WORKS OF ART or ASIAN ART II the following conditions apply.<br />You may need to pay a deposit of £5,000. Lot 16 may need to pay a deposit of £20,000.<br />Any deposit must be paid by debit card or bank transfer.<br />Woolley and Wallis must have cleared funds no later than 12 noon GMT on the 20th May. If you are not successful you will be refunded (without interest) within seven working days.<br />A deposit of £5000 is required as part of the online registration process. Approved bidders will have a spend limit of £50,000 (hammer price).<br />There will be no online bidding for lot 16 in this sale.<br /><br />Japanese Works of Art:<br />Starts at 2:30pm on 21st May 2019 </span></span><p style="margin-top:0cm"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background:white">The Japanese Works of Art sale on 21st May features approximately 180 lots and includes two Edo period (1615-1868) suits of armour from the private collection of Sir Henry Norman 1st Baronet Privy Councillor (1858-1939), from his collection at Ramster Hall, Surrey. The author of several books on Japan including 'The Real Japan, Studies of Contemporary Japanese Manners, Morals, Administration and Politics' these two impressive suits of armour are some of the many souvenirs he brought back from a country that fascinated him. </span></span></span></p> <p style="margin-top:0cm"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background:white"><span style="box-sizing:border-box"><span style="backface-visibility:hidden"><span style="text-rendering:optimizelegibility"><span style="-webkit-font-smoothing:antialiased"><span style="float:left">The sale will also include several pieces from the collection of R. Soame Jenyns (1904-1976). Assistant Keeper of Antiquities at the British Museum, Jenyns is also known for having written several seminal works on Chinese and Japanese art.
