ALCIATUS, Andreas Emblemes [...] de nouveau tra[n]slatez en Fra[n]çois vers pour vers iouxte les Latins. Lyon (M. Bonhomme for) G. Later calf dyed green, flat spine, red leather title label, red edges (sl. rubbed). Good copy. Edition in which the emblems have been completely rearranged according to subject by the French translator B. Aneau. Illustrated with 165 woodcuts, of which 14 are trees, attributed to Pierre Eskirch (= P. Vase), illustrating 201 emblems. The woodcuts are the same as in the Latin edition of 1548, "elle est plus recherchée que cette dernière, mais il n'est pas facile d'en trouver des exemplaires bien conservés" (Brunet).
