Christophe FRATIN (1801 - 1864) "Taureau combattant des dogues" circa 1849 Sculpture en terre cuite. Estampillée "Fratin" sur la terrasse. 20,3 x 26,5 x 13 cm (léger éclat à l'oreille gauche du taureau) Historique : Cette terre cuite est une réplique en petite nature du grand modèle en plâtre "Taureau combattant des chiens" exposé au Salon de 1835. Le sujet ne semble pas avoir été exploité par un éditeur. Expositions : Galerie Univers du Bronze, "Fratin, objets décoratifs et sculptures romantiques", Paris, 11 octobre au 10 novembre 2000. Stamped « Fratin » on the terrace. 7,99 x 10,43 x 5,12 inch (slight chip on the left ear of the bull) History : This terracotta is a small replica of the full size plaster model « Bull fighting Mastiffs » that has been exposed at the 1835 Salon. This model does not seem to have been exploited by an editor.
