Bronze encolpion. Byzantine. 10th-11th century.
This type of encolpion is a precious metalwork piece in the shape of a Latin cross which consists of two articulated parts, with a space in the middle to keep relics.
Provenance: acquired in Sotheby´s London on 8/7/1976.
