PIERRE JEANNERET (1896-1967) Bureau en teck PJ-030216, circa 1960 Bureau de direction en teck massif Plateau rectangulaire à châssis en cèdre recouvert de cuir de couleur noir et inséré dans un encadrement en teck massif. Quatre paires de hauts pieds de type « compas » fixés sous plateau Deux caissons latéraux suspendus découvrant pour chacun un casier ouvert surmonté d’un tiroir. Prises d’ouverture de forme ronde évidées sur fond aluminium, très caractéristiques de l’œuvre de Pierre Jeanneret à Chandigarh. Le cèdre, bois tendre et local, permettait la fixation du cuir par cloutage, contrairement au teck, bois dense, donc trop dur. Teak desk, circa 1960 Solid teak director’s table. Rectangular top with a cedar frame covered in black leather and inserted into a solid teak frame. Four pairs of high «compass»-type legs affixed under the table top. Two suspended side cabinets, each with an open compartment and upper drawer. Round hollowed-out opening grips on an aluminium background, typical of the work of Pierre Jeanneret in Chandigarh. Cedar, a soft, local wood, allows the leather to be fixed by tacking, unlike teak, which is a dense wood and therefore too hard for the purpose. Dimensions: Height: 27.95 in. Length: 53.94 in.
