Robert Thompson (British 1876-1955), a 'Mouseman' oak bowl and cheeseboard
c.1935, each signed in relief with a mouse
The bowl with adzed sides; the cheese board with curved boarder, the mouse having a long tail, both with a dark patina
Bowl 25 cm diameter; board 31 cm wide (2)
The bowl has four splits, very evident when the bowl is turned over, when viewed as a bowl, it shows two long furrows. There is heavy wear to the bowl interior is keeping with use, and natural wear to the underside. A few small losses to mouse's ears but concealed by the patina.
Cheese board: there are some 'slither' chips and losses to the lower sides and corners, all appear to be old and covered with the same aged patina. There is old wear to the top and and underside.
