Rare first edition of this very detailled work and one of the first in French dealing exclusively with tulips by the French botanist J.-P. d'Ardène (1689-1769). Ill. with 2 fold. engr. pl. by Duflos showing various tulips, bulbs, etc. Containing also a bibliography, vocabulary, some history and practical tips.
