(8 in.) $7600-11000 PROVENANCE Collection Jean-Louis Sonnery de Fromental (1920-1995), Paris, depuis les années 1970 Transmis par descendance familiale à l'actuel propriétaire Pendentif en pierre vert clair marbré à surface polie, à l'allure massive représentant une fgure qui se caractérise par ses yeux circulaires au regard émergeant des formes planes du visage, avec une paire de plumes placées telle une crête sur le haut de la tête, un bec massif de forme angulaire retombant sur la poitrine et aux ailes repliées sur le torse bombé. Ce type de pendentif aviforme peut tout aussi bien évoquer un personnage humain masqué qu'un aigle harpie natif d'Amérique Centrale ou du Sud. COSTA RICAN JADE FIGURAL CELT PENDANT Of robust form, distinguished by the circular eyes looking out from the recessed facial plane, a pair of crested feathers emanating from the top of the head, the massive angled beak resting on the chest, the wings resting folded on the raised chest; in pale green mottled stone with polished surface. These bird-celts may represent either masked humans or the reclusive harpy eagle native to Central and South America.
