(AUCTION/SALE) CATALOGUES -- CREVENNA -- CATALOGUE RAISONNÉ de la collection de livres de Pierre Antoine Crevenna, négociant à Amsterdam. N.pl., 1776. 6 in 3 vols. W. ti.-engr. by F.V. Schley. Lge-4°. 19th c. vellum, spines raised in compartments and w. gilt labels. (Front side vol. 1-2 loose, all 3 spines slightly dam., but in very good interior condition). Impressive and rare catalogue commenced in 1774, and published during the life time of Crevenna. Pietro Antonio Crevenna (1736-1792), wealthy tobacco merchant in Amsterdam amassed a magnificent collection with i.a. more than 1000 incunables. - Dibdin, Bibliomania, vol. 1, p. 106: "(…) one of the most extensive and magnificent collections ever formed in Amsterdam, (…)". This first impression of 1776 "is by far the most valuable in regard to bibliographical remarks and copiouis description."; NNBW X, 223: "(de bibliotheek behoorde) tot de uitmuntendste particuliere bibliotheken (…) welke ooit gevormd zijn."; H. de la Fontaine Verwey, Uit de wereld v.h. boek IV, p. 210: "(…) weergaloze bibliotheek (…)".
