A standing Dehua figure of Guanyin, by Su Xuejin ( 1869-1919 ) Size: 51 cm (H) The serene bodhisattva exquisitely formed and modelled beneath the clear white glaze, her lovely serene face with downcast eyes, beneath a jewelled diadem, her flowing locks hanging loosely around the shoulders of her long robes, which are loosely tied at the waist to reveal the jewelled necklace on her chest. She bears a crisply modelled ruyi sceptre in her right hand, while her left is raised in benediction, a four character seal mark on her back reading 'Bo ji yu ren', ('virtue extends to all, even fishermen') Su Xuejin (1869-1919), one of the bestknown Dehua artists, was active in the late Qing period. He signed his works with the seal Boji Yuren.
