A MONUMENTAL ICON SHOWING THE ENTHRONED CHRIST Greek, Cretan, late 16th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The oversized figure of Christ at the centre, seated on a throne. His hand raised in blessing, supporting the Gospels on his knee. The facial features and expressive hands accentuated by beige on a brown ground. The background gold. Laubholz-Einzeltafel mit zwei Rueckseiten-Sponki. Kowtscheg, Eitempera auf Kreidegrund, Hintergrund vergoldet, Nimbus punziert. 73 x 42 cm. In der vertikalen Bildachse frontale Darstellung des thronenden Christus. Seine Rechte hat er im Segensgestus erhoben. Mit seiner Linken haelt er das auf seinem Bein aufgestuetzte geoeffnete Evangelium. Feine Ausfuehrung in kontrastierender Rot-Blau-Farbigkeit. Kleinere Substanzverluste im Randbereich, min. rest.
