A Chinese cloisonné enamel 'Islamic market' box... Lot n° 36

The cover of the box is decorated with a black-ground panel enclosing an Arabic inscription reading "Shahada" which may be translated as "There is no god but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God", all surrounded by dense lotus scrolls which is repeated at the box base. Origin: China Period: 19th century Sizes: 7.50 cm. H x 10.50 cm. W x 8.00 cm. D 2.95 in.
