ETRUSCAN RED-FIGURE KANTHAROS Attributed to the Tondo Group, ca. 325 – 300 BC; height cm 15,2; diam max cm 10; A very fine Khantaros on pedestal foot with flatered body and fairing below the rim, on which are grafted two double handles, with a knot at the top ending in two lateral volutes. The decorative patterns consist of a sequence of ovoli on the rim, followed by a band of arrowed element, a vegetal motif on the body and two lines of ovoli and tongues in proximity of the foot. The beautiful vegetal decoration is composed by an imaginative rendering of tendrils and flowers which runs with fluidity and refinement on the central section of the body. PROVENANCE Property of a gentleman; acquired on the European art market between 1970s and 1990s.
