‡ A RARE SET OF THREE OTTOMAN SHORT SILVER-MOUNTED JAVELINS, TURKEY, EARLY 19TH CENTURY each with tapering iron head of hollow-cruciform section, moulded base and conical socket (one fitted with an early iron reinforcing collar), wooden haft and chased silver finial, the scabbard with two large chased silver mounts, the upper incorporating two rings for suspension, and later fabric cover 83.2 cm; 32 ¾ in overall (3) A similar set of silver-mounted javelins are preserved in the Wallace Collection, London (inv. No. 2357).
