Mobilization for Sidaction has not weakened: the innovative initiative raised €212,550 this year.
Céline, chair 01 "Dorée" in gold-plated stainless steel, never sold, 80 x 40 x 47 cm (31.5 x 15.75 x 18.51 in).
The traditional Paris Fashion Dinner closing the haute couture shows was canceled due to the pandemic, so the Sidaction team came up with a new idea: an online auction in partnership with the Fédération de la haute couture et de la mode.
In an interview with La Gazette, Jean Paul Gaultier, the sale’s artistic director, explained how the project started. The proceeds match the commitment: €212,500 were raised, rewarding the fashion world’s solidarity—41 houses were involved—and reflecting the bidders’ generosity. A lunch with Line Renaud, a deeply committed sponsor, and fashion ambassador Gaultier netted €8,100 and €16,200, respectively. A pair of Yves Saint Laurent collector’s boots fetched €30,000, a gold-plated stainless chair by Celine €8,500 and a meeting with Simon Jacquemus to design a tailor-made bag with him €10,400.
The head of Sidaction, Florence Thune, was jubilant about the result and thanked all the people involved in this first while nevertheless recalling that everyone’s mobilization remains vital, especially in these challenging times.
