The Asian week that has galvanised Paris for the last few years just before the Christmas truce has become both a tradition and an eagerly-awaited event. This time around was no exception. Eleven specialist sales were held at Drouot, with several auction houses featuring a chapter within a more classical programme. The result was impressive: nearly €20 M, headed by the €8.8 M obtained for the painting by Sanyu, which set a Western record for a picture by the artist, and the €2,470,000 for this Guanyin from the Song period.
