Picasso's "Owl" Vase

On December 19, 2021 in Villefranche-sur-Saône, the star of a sale dedicated to design by the Richard Auction House (Mr. Durr) was a large vase by Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) in the form of a night bird.

The artifact, Chouette aux plumes (Feathered Owl), produced in around 1951 for the Madoura workshop (31.5 x 24 x 17 cm/12.4 x 9.4 x 6.7 in), garnered €20,625. It is made of white clay with black and brown oxides on a white background, with knife incisions, and stamped "d'après Picasso" and "Madoura, marque Édition Picasso". It is numbered 122 in Alain Ramié's reference book.
