Classics from Van Cleef & Arpels

The beauty of natural stones by Van Cleef & Arpels in a set from the 1980s.

Expected to make around €15,000/18,000, this yellow gold bracelet highlighted with small sapphires and turquoise cabochons (18 cm, 7in), accompanied by a necklace of the same model, marks Van Cleef & Arpels's return to simplicity and sobriety in the 1980s. Jewellery was more classical, with geometric lines and graphic motifs. The combination of often brilliant colours is limited here to the deep blue of sapphires and the greenish-blue shades of the turquoise. This owes its name to the French "stone of Turkey" (the country from which they arrived in Europe during the Renaissance). Van Cleef & Arpels only chooses natural stones sourced in America for its creations.
