Hermès and the pink alligator

On 02 July 2020, by Claire Papon

It seems that this model, or at least its colour, is as rare as the animal it is made of, as pink alligators are a very uncommon species…

The reptile is called mississippiensis: a name that indicates its origin. Less often found than Kellys and Birkins, the Passe-Guide was a model designed in the 1970s by Henri d’Origny for Hermès, which offered it in gold or black box form with gold plated mountings. Updated to current tastes for the spring/summer show of 2012, this satchel bag sports a tab clasp and two saddle studs. The one here (L.25 cm, 9.8 in) dates from 2013.
