Déguisé en grand d'Espagne, avec collerette à la Velásquez et bracelet oriental, Salvador Dalí présente un objet mystérieux, synthèse du cercle évasé, du cylindre éclaté et de l'instrument de mesure. Une étrangeté en totale osmose avec l'engin spatial auquel il est en train de consacrer un tableau, en janvier 1971, dans son atelier de Cadaqués.

Disguised as a Spanish noble, complete with a Velásquez style high collar and oriental bracelet, Salvador Dalí holds a most mysterious object, a combination of a flared sphere, an exploded cylinder and a measuring instrument. An incongruity in complete harmony with the spatial machine he is painting in January, 1971, in his Cadaqués workshop.
