Landscape of the Vexin Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. 60 x 81,5 cm. Bibliography: To be compared with the work of the same spirit representing a landscape of the Oise of 1902, reproduced p. 46 in the monograph of Kyriazi, edition 1979. Whether it is the Quai de Pothuy in Pontoise or the Paysage du Vexin, it is the same softness that is expressed by the colors, the touch and the soft atmosphere that Loiseau infuses into his paintings. Our two paintings were probably done at daybreak when the light was still mixing with the morning mists. It is one of the artist's characteristics that he prefers the diffuse luminosity of the mornings or the end of the afternoons to the days of full sun.
