The quay of Pothuy in Pontoise - 1900 Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. Titled "Bord de l'Oise" on the back. 54 x 65 cm. Provenance: Galerie Durand-Ruel, Paris, acquired from the artist on April 27, 1935. Le Paul Gallery, Pont-Aven. A certificate dated November 18, 1980 by M. Charles Durand-Ruel, indicating the photographic archive number 11992, will be given to the buyer. In 1889, Loiseau discovered the Pouldu and its colony of painters. In the Gloanec boarding house, he met Gauguin who offered him a still life as a gift (which was sold to Durand-Ruel in 1921). However, Loiseau did not adhere to the radical spirit of the "Master of Pont-Aven" preferring the influence of Monet whom he considered the greatest of the Impressionists.
