The two little Breton women with a bowl of soup - 1905 Oil on canvas. Signed with the monogram lower left. 60 x 73 cm. Provenance: Acquired from the Hôtel des ventes d'Enghien, sale of December 7, 1980, n° 60 of the catalog. Bibliography: Reproduced in the Marc Guicheteau, Side edition, 1976, under the n° 188 p. 237. In 1905, Sérusier resided in Châteauneuf-du-Faou, a simple and modest Breton town off the tourist trail. This period is one of the last ones where his attachment to the teaching of Gauguin, who died in 1903, can be read. Sérusier exhibited his "Farewell to Gauguin" under a title borrowed for the occasion from Virgil's Bucolics, "Tityre and Melibeus" in 1906.
