AN ANTLER MASK NETSUKE OF HANNYA Unsigned Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Boldly carved from a tubular section of naturally hollowed antler, the elongated face set with a devious expression with sharp fangs, and two small horns protruding from its finely incised hair. The eyes and nostrils pierced and the forehead extending in an exaggerated arch. Large central himotoshi to the thick bar in the back. The antler finely stained and bearing a superb, deep patina. HEIGHT 6 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and typical natural flaws to the material.
