- in vol. II, some with small reinforcements, reinforced tear p. 269 of vol. First edition of this work, often considered a reprint of "Les dons de Comus" (1739), but in fact a work in its own right, as evidenced by the preface: "L'Ouvrage que je donne aujourd'hui est exactement la suite des dons de Comus" (p. xlix). Gives recipes for broths, soups, numerous fish and meat recipes, entremets, etc. The last chapter of vol. III deals with "cuisine et économie bourgeoise", the aim of which is to "serve household economy" and "facilitate the means of always eating something good" (vol. III, p. 543), with recipes for cabbage soup, turnip soup, pigeon fricassee, cold beef persillade, etc. With sample menus at the end of Vol. I (all beef, veal, mutton...). Illustrated with a frontispiece. Marin was a protégé of Mme de Pompadour and maître d'hôtel to the Maréchal de Soubise. Ref. Vicaire 285. - Barbier I:1113. - Bitting 307-309 (mentions our work as a reissue with a new title of "Les Dons de Comus"). - Not in Oberlé.
