Full-page woodcut illustrations at the beginning of the 20 cantos. Fine copy. Rare edition of this octava rima version of Giulio Cesare Croce's novel, divided into twenty cantos, by different authors, whose names are read on p. VIII-XI (see also Melzi, Dictionary of anonymous and pseudonymous works by Italian writers, I, p. 129). Published in Venice by Pietro Pinolato in 1782, as can be inferred from the license to print a1 paper. Leg no. 2156. 8vo; 165x90 mm. Quarter calf and marbled binding in boards, gilt title on spine. Pp. XII, 396. Engraved plate on titlepage with the portrait of the author "Giulio Cesare Croci detto Dalla Lira Bologn." and a frontispiece with caption "Famiglia Bertoldo". Woodcut illustrations on full page at the beginning of the 20 cantos. Nice specimen.
