A Near East early Bronze Age ceramic vessel, late 3rd millennium B.C. Hand-formed, bulbous, almost spherical vessel made of light, reddish-brown clay with a slightly domed base. At the top, a steeply rising neck sloping slightly outwards around a small opening. Two upward-sloping knobs on the shoulder with notches on the outside and perforations on the inside. A band of five thin, parallel flutes between the knobs. Apart from minimal chipping on the surface, completely intact. Height 14.5 cm. Width 15 cm. Provenance: South German private collection, acquired in June 2014 at Gorny & Mosch, auction 222, lot 259. Previously Munich private collection S. N. Condition: I -
