FRENCH SCHOOL, first third of the 19th century. Meeting of officers and dignitaries. Pen and brown ink. Glued to sheet (minor spotting and foxing). Mark lower right of the collection L J. A. Coutan (Lugt. 464). 13.5 x 16 cm. Wood and gilded stucco frame with palmettes motif. Provenance: The Coutan collection ( ? - 1830), after having been passed on to his brother-in-law Ferdinand Hauguet ( ? - 1860), passed to his son, Maurice - Jacques - Albert Hauguet. His wife, née Schubert, bequeathed it to her sister, Mme Gustave Milliet, who, in 1883, donated part of it to the Musée du Louvre. The remaining part was sold at Hôtel Drouot on December 16-17, 1889.
