NORTHERN SCHOOL - "Christ and the twelve Apostles". c.1493. Engraved wood. Watermarked laid paper (tower). Typographical text in German on verso. Printed by Michael Wohlgemut. Plate from the "Chronicle of Nuremberg" by Schedel. In this print one can see Christ seated, surrounded by his Apostles. Each of them has a nimbus with his name. The banners contain the twelve articles of the Creed. The four corners of the print are enriched with the symbols of the evangelists - the angel for Matthew, the lion for Mark, the ox for Luke and the eagle for John. Small margins. 37 x 23 cm. Condition B/C (some wormholes and rare stains).
