Indian miniature mounted on an album page. Ink, polychrome pigments and gold on paper. India, late 18th-early 19th century. A young woman with an unclothed torso but adorned with jewels is depicted standing, running her hands through her long hair. Her silhouette stands out on a green background. In the upper right corner, an inscription surrounded by gold is probably an apocryphal signature in the name of Chittir. The portrait is mounted within floral margins framed by calligraphic cartouches in shikasté script. Provenance: Strycker collection, Belgium.
