[Travel - Navy]. ARGENSOLA (Leonardo d'). History of the Conquest of the Moluccan Islands by the Spaniards, by the Portuguese, and by the Dutch. Amsterdam, chez Jaques Desbordes, 1706. 3 volumes in-12, brown basane, cold arms in the center of the boards, spines with ornate nerves (period binding). First French edition decorated with 3 repeated frontispieces, a portrait and 31 maps and folding engravings. This is one of the most important works for the history of the Philippine Islands, with precious documents on the navigators Drake and Magellan. Hinges rubbed, some foxing and browning of pages, light rings in margins (Chadenat, 739). Provenance: Unidentified arms and figures.
