[GUENÉE (Antoine). Letters from some Portuguese and German Jews to M. de Voltaire, with critical reflections, etc., and a small commentary from a larger one. Second edition. Lisbon ; Paris : L. Prault, 1769, in-12, VIII-421-(3) p., contemporary brown half calf, decorated spine (snags on spine, top cover worn). Guenée (1717-1803) wrote several works, the best known of which is Lettres de quelques Juifs (...) à M. de Voltaire, published in Paris in 1769. This work, reprinted several times, has been translated into English and other languages. The Jews are seen as a savage people who copulate with animals and feed on human flesh: a deicidal people.
