GÉRARD SANDOZ (1902-1995) Marine flora and fauna Rare ovoid vase with a large annular neck. Proof in copper brassware mounted with a hammer. The decoration title turn realized in gold patina and brown patina on black background. A small depression around the base. About 1924. Signed Gérard SANDOZ and bears the hallmark of Master Goldsmith under the base. Height : 14,5 cm Provenance : - Maurice Fenaillle Collection. - By descent. Works from the same series reproduced in an article (pages 24 to 30) by René Chavance entirely devoted to the artist. History : Gérard Sandoz, son of Gustave-Roger Sandoz the famous jeweler and nephew of Paul Follot the decorative designer, has left his name in the history of avant-garde jewelry of the twentieth century in the same way as Raymond Templier and Jean Fouquet. Nevertheless, between 1923 and 1924, he made about fifteen pieces of copper brassware that he had Claudius Linossier hammer on and then lacquered himself. His rare metal works are to be compared with his jewelry creations of the same period.
